Pat Claerbout, Director of the Department of Animal Care and Regulation

Pat Claerbout was appointed Director of Sacramento County Department of Animal Care and Regulation in March 2004 after working in the position as a contract employee for the previous year. Pat has been working in the field of animal control since 1982. She began her career in animal control as a field officer in 1982 and has held positions as Field Supervisor, Operations Manager and Department Director in both governmental animal control and non-profit animal welfare organizations.
 
 She has served on the board of directors for the State Directors Association for over ten years, acting as the legislative liaison. She has set up cooperative programs with other animal welfare organizations and led her departments to become recognized as progressive, professional organizations well respected in the state and nationally. 

Pat has received specialized training in animal fighting and cruelty investigation through the California State Humane Academy and also received training on wildlife capture and restraint at the California Department of Fish and Game.
 
Pat currently lives in Placerville with three dogs, one cat and two llamas.
