Zeke Holst, Director, Municipal Services Agency Communication and Media Officer III

Zeke Holst, a veteran media and public relations professional with more than three decades experience, was named Communication and Media Officer for the Municipal Services Agency of Sacramento County in February 2004.  Prior to his appointment, Holst served as Communication and Media Officer for the Department of Transportation (SacDOT), one of 10 departments that comprise the MSA.

As the MSA’s Communication and Media Officer, Holst manages a staff of six and coordinates internal and external communication programs for the Agency and the departments of Animal Care and Regulation, County Engineering, Environmental Review and Assessment, Neighborhood Services, Planning and Community Development, and Regional Parks.  His Agency-wide management responsibilities include Internet and Intranet content, public affairs, public relations and strategic counsel.

Holst provides strategic counsel and other on-request services to the departments of Transportation, Waste Management and Recycling, Water Quality and Water Resources – organization’s that maintain in-house Communication and Media Officer staff. 

While at SacDOT, Holst managed a variety of public relations programs, media inquiries, and represented the department at numerous public and community meetings. Prior to joining SacDOT, Holst served as Public Information Officer for the Sacramento Employment and Training Agency from 1992 to 2000. 

Holst began his media and public relations career in 1973. He has held many positions in the broadcasting field such as a writer/producer, production manager, copywriter, sales, disc jockey and news director for radio and television stations in Wyoming and California.  In Sacramento he has worked at NBC affiliate KCRA-TV (Channel 3), CBS affiliate KOVR-TV (Channel 13), and KFBK News-Radio (AM 1530). 

Holst is a graduate of the University of San Francisco with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Relations and Organizational Behavior.
