About the
Warren E. Thornton
Youth Center
The shortage of beds in the 35-year old Warren E. Thornton Youth Center has created a backlog of minors waiting to be admitted to the program. The addition of two housing units, each accommodating 30 youths, will be a major component of the expansion.
A gymnasium has been constructed and complements the new outdoor exercise area. The two provide plenty of exercise area for the youths.
Dining areas, classrooms, medical and mental health support, food service, laundry, new security electronics and other services will be added to meet the increased needs that coincide with an increase in the number of youths.
