This small courtyard is the primary space available for visiting the fifty youths who have been committed at the Warren E. Thornton Youth Center.  One classroom is shared by the 50 youths committed at the Warren E. Thornton Youth Center. Limited reference material is available in the classroom at the Warren E. Thornton Youth Center. Here, the teacher is reviewing material prior to instruction.

Project Overview
This project is expanding the existing facility and increasing the number of beds and services on site.

Highlights of the expansion include:

• Two new 30-bed housing units with two classrooms in each unit
• Medical clinic
• Dedicated mental health space
• An expanded kitchen
• A dining and multipurpose room that will be used for meals,
  visiting, and group activities
• School offices and student testing area
• Three group interview rooms for youth and family counseling programs
• Gymnasium
• New parking area
• Security improvements
