News and Updates
  • Natomas Building Permits - The proposed modified flood elevation determinations affecting the Flood Insurance Rate Map and Flood Insurance Study for Sacramento County is considered final. The final Base Flood Elevations will be published in the Federal Register as soon as possible and the new maps will be effective December 1, 2008. For detailed information and to view maps of the affected area, visit the Natomas Floodplain Remap website.

  • Proposed Remapping of Levees in the Delta Islands - Sacramento County will soon have new Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) flood zone maps, known as Flood Insurance Rate Maps. FEMA is reviewing levees and considering whether or not they provide adequate protection. This means property owners in Freeport, Hood, Courtland, Locke, Walnut Grove and Delta Islands will likely have their flood zones redesignated as well. Homes in areas protected by 'inadequate' levees will be required to purchase flood insurance if they have a federally backed mortgage. When the County receives the new maps they will be posted on this website. Read more about the flood insurance rate maps.

  • Beach Stone Lakes/Point Pleasant Public Meeting - Sacramento County Water Resources staff met with the residents of Point Pleasant on March 6th to discuss possible solutions for the flooding in the area. County staff encouraged Point Pleasant residents to participate in site visits to provide individual solutions for their property. In addition to the individual consultations, staff invited them to volunteer to participate as members of the Flood Preparedness and Response Plan Committee. For more information on this program, visit the Point Pleasant website.
