• Proposed Remapping of Levees in the Delta Islands - Sacramento County will soon have new Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) flood zone maps, known as Flood Insurance Rate Maps. FEMA is reviewing levees and considering whether or not they provide adequate protection. This means property owners in Freeport, Hood, Courtland, Locke, Walnut Grove and Delta Islands will likely have their flood zones redesignated as well. Homes in areas protected by 'inadequate' levees will be required to purchase flood insurance if they have a federally backed mortgage.
