Beach Stone Lakes/Point Pleasant Flood Preparedness Plan

Floodfight and Sandbags

The main threats to the north Delta area, immediately to the south of BSL/Point Pleasant, are levee failures. The various Reclamation Districts are the first line of defense in floodfighting. County, state and federal assistance is provided if requested. The Reclamation Districts request assistance from the county when their floodfight capabilities are exceeded. The county provides local assistance and passes the request on to the state. Typically, the county floodfight activities are limited to assisting in levee patrols, and distributing sandbags.

In the BSL/Point Pleasant area, sandbags have been delivered in the past to the United Methodist Church. Depending on the severity of the storm, and whenever the forecasted elevation at Benson’s Ferry reaches 20 feet, the county will continue to provide sandbags at that location.

Additionally, a sandbag distribution site is located at the Jean Harvie Senior Citizen & Community Center. Click on the detail map below to go to the MapQuest website and view scalable map or get driving directions to the sandbag distribution site.
