Stormwater Quality
The Stormwater Quality section
monitors pollutants in local creeks, assists other
County departments to protect water quality, and
educates the public on ways to keep creeks and
rivers clean. Keeping rivers healthy and clean
requires long-term dedication and commitment.
The Stormwater Quality unit is responsible for
developing and implementing programs to reduce
the discharge of pollutants from urban run-off
to local receiving waters. Programs include
monitoring the impact of a variety of substances
in local waterways, promoting "Best Management
Practices" (BMPS) for local construction work,
and educating the public on ways to reduce stormwater
pollution. The cities of Sacramento Folsom, Citrus
Heights, Elk Grove, and Galt are co-participants
with the County in this regional Stormwater
Management Program.
